My E-Portfolio

My e-portfolio is a collection of my autobiographical sketch, philosophy of education, resume and rationales that explain how I fit the standards of a good teacher. I am almost done with it and I am super excited to show it off! It will be a work in progress until I graduate, but I know it will be a great tool when I look for a job. :)

Webquest

Today we presented our webquest lesson plans. I found the other students lesson plans very interesting and fun! I liked seeing the different things that people are interested in. One girl did hers on Shakespeare and she made it really fun! :) I am learning so much in this class...thanks Dr. Davis! :)

Webquest Lesson Plans

Last class we learned how to use webquest to create lesson plans. I used UEN.org to find a lesson plan and I took the lesson and put it into a webquest format that included and introduction, the task, the process and materials, websites used, evaluation rubric and conclusion. I did a lesson on healthy living an body image! I think it turned out great and I'm excited to show it off in class! :)

Today I used webquest to create a lesson plan. I went to UEN.org and got a lesson plan on health and used a webquest template to create it! It turned out really great!! :)

Resume and Standards Brochure

This week I created an up to date resume and a teaching standards brochure. I think they turned out great! I used templates on Microsoft Word 2007. I added the resume and brochure to my E-portfolio. You can find that at www.cherianderson.wordpress.com. :)

Autobiographical Sketch


I chose to become a teacher because I feel that I can make a significant difference in students lives. My third grade teacher was very kind and always took care of her students and she has become my inspiration to pursue education as a career. I want to help each of my students to learn that they are unique and intelligent in their own way. I love helping children learn and I want to experience the joy of being able to assist children in the learning process.
Teaching also fits into my lifestyle as a mother. As a educator, my schedule will be similar to my children and I will be able to spend as much time as possible with them. Being educated and knowing the curriculum will also help me to teach my children at home and assist them with their school work. I look forward to having a respected career as a teacher that will allow me to also spend time with my family.
I feel that I have many personal attributes that will contribute to a successful career as a teacher. My commitment to complete tasks that I begin will improve my ability to fully teach my students the curriculum. I am an honorable person who follows the rules and I will always try to do what is most beneficial for my students. Also, I am friendly, so hopefully my students and their parents will be able to easily communicate with me. My creativity will help me to prepare a fun learning environment in my classroom and design enjoyable activities for my students. My ability to organize will help me to plan lessons for different courses of study and use class time efficiently. My personal attributes and my love for children and learning make me confident that teaching is what I was meant to do.
I see myself having a long life and accomplishing a majority of my long term goals. In the near future, I aspire to graduate college with a degree in elementary education. I hope to get a job at an elementary school and buy a home in a respectable neighborhood close by. I would love to someday have a second child and I hope to raise my children to be loving Christians and responsible citizens. After a fulfilling career as a teacher, I plan to retire with my husband and spend my old age traveling and enjoying my grandchildren. I know if I work hard and believe in myself, I can have a beautiful life and obtain my lifetime goals.

Photo Story

We learned how to use a microsoft program called Photo Story 3. You select pictures that you want to be part of the slide show, then you can add titles, transitions and music. It's really cool! I chose to make a story about my baby boy Dallen. I had a lot of fun making it and I am proud of how it turned out!

Digital Scavenger Hunt

Today in class we did a digital camera scavenger hunt. We were given a list of shapes to take pictures of. We made a power point presentation to display the pictures and we explained the shapes that we found. It was fun to present the powerpoint together as a group.
We also learned about wikis. Some examples of wikis are wikipedia.com and urbandictionary.com. From what I understand a wiki is basically a already made website that anyone can update and change. They can give their own ideas oppinions or definitions.

I added 12 new RSS feeds to my blog this week. I got the majority of the feeds from msnbc.com. I chose feeds about parenting, relationships, top headlines, skin care, etc. I am excited to use my feeds to quickly check new articles from the topics I'm most interested in. The 24 feed is so that I am able to see when the next episode of 24 is playing. you can also click on the feed to watch the newest episode on the internet. If you are interested you should check out the healthcare feed. There are some really great articles on the newest findings in healthcare!

My Technology Class

My name is Cheri Anderson and I am new to blogging! I created this blog for my technology class, so hopefully by using it for class I can get good at using blogs! :)
A little about me...
I am married to a man named Westton and we have a beautiful baby boy named Dallen who is five months now. We also have two yorkshire terriors Monty and Maely. I love my little family!
I have been in college for three years now and I recently decided I want to be an elementary teacher. So, now im working towards a degree in elementary education at Dixie State!
When im not busy being a mommy or doing school work, I enjoy shopping online, going to movies, going out to eat, going to the lake and going snowboarding. :) I hope this helps you know me a little better! If you must know anything else, just ask! I'm not shy!
